Mathew Flamin

Mathew is a student in the second form at St. Mary’s Yala. He lives with his uncle and aunt in a one-room brick house. His ambition is to become an accountant in the future. His favorite subjects in school are Chemistry, History, and Kiswahili. Since joining NRCF, he has received educational support and has benefited from various programs such as Life Skills, Career workshops, Mental health, and drugs and substance abuse. His reading and writing skills have improved due to the educational support, and the training programs have helped him better understand himself and make the right decisions. His preferred activities include reading and playing chess. With the educational support he is receiving, he believes that his life will be transformed and that his family’s living conditions will improve.

Eliakim

Eliakim and his family reside in a humble abode embodying simplicity and resilience in the face of adversity. Amidst the challenges posed by their living conditions, his parent diligently engages in casual work to sustain the family’s basic needs. However, the COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated their struggle, rendering consistent employment elusive.

Within the confines of their dwelling, Eliakim’s aspirations flicker brightly. In spite of financial constraints hindering his educational journey, he harbors an unwavering love for learning, cherishing the moments he can spend at school. Despite the hurdles, he clings tenaciously to his dreams, envisioning himself soaring through the skies as a pilot, transcending the confines of his current circumstances. His determination manifests in his academic endeavors, as evidenced by his commendable scores.

His hobbies are playing soccer and reading books.The challenges entrenched in their daily existence, Eliakim and his family epitomize resilience, their spirits buoyed by hope and the pursuit of a brighter tomorrow amidst the shadows of adversity.
